The Story of Naomi
Book of Ruth (Chapters 1-4)
Naomi's story in the Book of Ruth is a powerful account of moving from profound grief and bitterness to renewed hope and restoration.
Life and Loss:
• Leaving Home: She moved from Bethlehem to Moab with her husband Elimelech and their two sons to escape a famine.
• Deep Sorrow: Her husband and both of her sons died while living in Moab.
• Renaming Herself: She felt empty and bitter, asking people to call her Mara, which means "bitter".
Return to Bethlehem:
• Loyal Daughter-in-Law: Her Moabite daughter-in-law, Ruth, refused to leave her and traveled back to Bethlehem with her.
• New Hope: Ruth met and married a kind relative named Boaz, who provided for them.
Legacy:
• Restored Joy: Ruth gave birth to a son named Obed, making Naomi a grandmother.
• Royal Lineage: Obed became the grandfather of King David, placing Naomi in the direct family line of Jesu
